Paediatrics

Our paediatrics department monitors children's healthy growth from the newborn period to the end of adolescence and assesses them when they are unwell. Our waiting areas and examination rooms are designed so that children feel at ease, and parents can stay with their child at every stage of the examination.

Well-child care

• Newborn examination and information about the heel-prick screening test
• Vaccinations in line with the Ministry of Health schedule
• Growth and development monitoring with height, weight and head circumference measurements
• Guidance on breastfeeding, starting solid foods and age-appropriate nutrition
• Pre-school and school-age check-ups, with referral for vision and hearing screening

When your child is unwell

• Assessment of fever, cough, diarrhoea and vomiting
• Recurrent infections and allergic complaints
• Follow-up of children with asthma or long-term conditions
• Referral to paediatric sub-specialties where needed

Before your appointment

1. Bring your child's vaccination card and any previous reports.
2. A short note helps: when the fever started, how high it was and which medicine you gave.
3. For young children, spare clothes and a favourite toy can make the visit easier.

Seek help immediately: Go to the emergency department without waiting for an appointment if a baby under three months has a fever, or if your child has difficulty breathing, turns blue, has a seizure, is unusually drowsy or cannot keep fluids down.
