A seamless move to the cloud for a logistics firm

Challenge
The warehouse management system and accounting ran on ageing servers at head office. An air-conditioning failure one summer day stopped the systems for half a day, and some backups turned out to be incomplete. Branches reached head office over a slow and unstable connection.
Solution
During discovery we mapped 14 servers and the applications that depended on them. We timed the migration plan around weekend nights, when the warehouses are quietest. The systems moved to the cloud over three weekends, with no outage longer than two hours. Encrypted links were set up between the branches and the cloud, and daily backups started being copied to a second data centre.
